The owners of a 1920's era home approached KPH with the desire to reduce their high heating costs and increase the comfort of the home. The existing heating system consists of a combination of baseboard and cast iron radiators.
For this project we recommended replacing their existing 50's vintage boiler with a high-efficiency Weil-McLain Ultra boiler.

The installed system is a Weil-McLain Ultra 150 with a companion Ultra 40 water heater.
While we were in the process of the upgrade, we moved the boiler to a far corner of the basement. This created an additional 120 square feet of living space in the basement. The pipe runs were also reconfigured to give extra head room. The result is a much more usable space for the owners' exercise room. |

There are two pumps on the system loop to maintain a consistant water flow. This evens out the heat flow in the system, and provides much more even temperatures throughout the house.

The owner tracked his monthy gas usage both before and after the upgrade.

He then calculated the cost savings from the first year to the second. He averaged 38% lower expenditures on his gas bill the 2nd year. |
